Discussions have begun over plans for the £24 million revamp of Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury.
The plans have been submitted to Canterbury Council and a decision is expected to made later this year.
The modern theatre will have a new main auditorium will have 1,200 seats and new box office and toilet facilities.
Canterbury Council's Chief Executive Mr Colin Carmichael said: "We hope as many people as possible will take the time to look at this planning application and give their views. This is a major project for Canterbury and it's important people understand what is being planned."
