Two Neath Port Talbot projects have scooped top awards in the annual Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Awards for South Wales.

The Intertissue paper mill on the Baglan Energy Park and a six executive house development at Cilfrew both won the praise of judges in their categories.

The scale of the paper mill with buildings covering an area which would accommodate 12 full size rugby pitches helped it win the Industrial category while at Baytree Homes Ltd in Cilfrew the high standard of workmanship and the individuality of each house scooped the top award in the volume housing category.

Building Control Manager at Neath Port Talbot and Awards Chairman Paul Davis said: "Over the past 12 months we have seen some terrific projects come to fruition in South Wales.

"The aim of these awards is to raise standards in the construction industry and highlight and congratulate quality workmanship and professionalism. They also serve top underline what a dynamic and forward thinking industry we have in South Wales."
