DIY Fans Needed For Eco-Tree Art Project

Eco-friendly DIY enthusiasts are being urged to take part in one of the most creative recycling campaigns ever in a scheme launched by leading woodcare manufacturer Ronseal.

The 'Tree of Life' is a recycling initiative that will see a giant eco-sculpture, created by award-winning artist Ptolemy Elrington, being positioned in a public woodland area.

The public are being encouraged to donate their empty or part-used Ronseal tins to the project and Ptolemy, who is best known for his Hubcap Creatures and sculpture of the Queen made from discarded household appliances, will then use them to create a 15-foot 'Tree of Life'.

With an estimated 50 million litres of woodcare products sold in 2007, this ingenious tin recycling initiative, launched in support of Ronseal's new Eco range of products, highlights the woodcare manufacturers' commitment to the environment, including a pledge to plant up to 8,000 trees with the Woodland Trust.

Once completed, the magnificent 15-foot masterpiece will be displayed at a Woodland Trust site in Hertfordshire where it will be available for all to see before before being recycled to complete its journey in life.
