Swansea Council's Cabinet is due to discuss the awarding of the tender for the next phase of the multi-million pound Guildhall refurbishment.

In 2008/9 Phase 2 Part 2 could see around an £3m programme of work taking place in the municipal block of the landmark council building.

The proposals follow a review of the condition of the Guildhall in 2005.

When it meets on 3 April, the council's Cabinet will be asked to accept a contractors tender for what will be Phase 2.2 of the Construction Works.

There are six phases to the estimated £30 million project to make the Guildhall a working landmark for generations to come and the project is being led by Swansea Council's Corporate Building Services team.

Much of the initial phases of works have been going on unseen beneath people's feet and above their heads but they amount to a major modernisation of the Guildhall's electrical, mechanical and heating systems.
