Plans for a new police station in North Cornwall have been given the green light.
North Cornwall District Council planners have approved the application for the station in Bodmin, which will replace the current building, built over 30 years ago.
Construction is due to commence this summer and will be complete before the end of 2009.
Stride Treglown are the designers behind the three-storey Priory Road building which will act as a strategic policing hub, which will provide accommodation for neighbourhood and patrol policing, as well as specialist units including crime scene investigation and a major crime investigation team.
Insp Ian Marshall said there had been widespread consultation with the local community.
He said: "I was very keen to ensure the places for the new police station would greatly improve public contact, team work and enhance access to specialist police services.
"I am confident that this will be achieved and allow us to improve the service that we provide."
