Barnsley Council has announced plans to build 30 new houses at Darfield.
The new homes will be a direct replacement for homes in the Bellbrook Avenue area which is being partly redeveloped.
Cllr Bill Newman, Cabinet spokesperson for Development, said: "We have secured funding of £3.5M to build 30 new homes at Bellbrook, which unlike the current homes, will be highly energy efficient.
"The homes will be developed in phases by Chevin Housing Association, helping to meet the needs of current and future households.
"For residents whose homes are being cleared, we will, through our partner Berneslai Homes, work closely with residents to help them through the change, and this allocation goes a long way to meeting the area's requirements."
