Following consultation on the New Lodge blueprint, Barnsley Council has announced major funding to support the areas regeneration.

Cllr Bill Newman, Cabinet Spokesperson for Development said: "We were pleased when we secured Neighbourhood Management funding for the area, and now we can help turn some of the emerging plans into reality.

"We are absolutely delighted to have secured the first phase of funding that amounts to nearly £7m, to build 55 new homes, with further funding earmarked.

"I am also pleased to announce a further £500k has been secured to continue the estate's environmental transformation."

This funding is a boost for the area and the programmes will be delivered jointly by Berneslai Homes and Yorkshire Housing over the next few years.
