Balfour Beatty, an engineering, construction, services and investment business, has acquired civil engineering and building business Dean & Dyball, for approximately £45 million.
Balfour Beatty said the acquisition will provide strong presence in civil engineering markets in the south of England and Wales.
Dean & Dyball is believed to have been for sale from January 2008 and turned over £262 million in the year to 30 September 2007.
Balfour acquired Bristol-based building contractor Cowlin in August last year for £52 mlllion, which followed the acquisition of Birse for the civil engineering business in 2006 and Mansell for the building business in 2003.
