Scottish Enterprise has confirmed it wants to demolish Kirkcaldy's abandoned linoleum works, a building which has stood empty for over 20 years.

Scottish Enterprise Fife is preparing to discuss with Fife Council plans to haul down the A listed building.

Many of the local residents agree the building is an unwelcome eyesore.

The building was built in the 1860s and was occupied by Nairns, a company which produced its own lino.

Scottish Enterprise Chief Executive Joe Noble said: "We have left no stone unturned in trying to secure a development.

"Unfortunately, due to the large costs associated with re-development, none has proved attainable. Therefore, discussions about demolition will take place."
