Aberdeen City Council has announced that the Westburn Lounge will be refurbished for hosting the World Singles Bowls Competition this summer.
The estimated cost of the overhaul is £95,000.
City councillors agreed that the venue should be upgraded throughout for the world-class sporting event, which will bring competitors, officials and spectators from more than 30 countries.
Aberdeen will be the first city in the northern hemisphere to host the competition, which will be run by the World Bowling Association and hosted by the Scottish Bowling Association and Aberdeen City Council.
Internal works at the venue will include improvements to the lounge, viewing gallery, cafeteria and kitchen. The entrance foyer, reception area, toilets and locker rooms will also be upgraded.
Walls, carpets, signs, lighting, ironmongery and carpets will be renewed, cleaned and repaired where necessary. External improvements will also be carried out.
Councillors also previously agreed in December to spend £46,200 to upgrade the bowling greens.
All work is expected to completed by June.
