The Royal Borough's building control consultancy team is celebrating after being awarded a Charter Mark for the second time.

The team, which ensures developments across the borough comply with building regulations, still remains the only building control service in Berkshire to hold the Charter Mark award for customer service excellence.

First awarded the accolade three years ago, the team was put under the microscope at the end of last year when independent assessors reviewed the service to decide if it was still worthy of the Charter Mark. They agreed it was and now the status has been retained for a further three years.

Cllr Derek Wilson, Lead Member for Planning and Housing, said: "Charter Mark is the government's national standard for customer service excellence and I would like to congratulate members of the building control team whose excellent attitude to their work has resulted in this prestigious award.

"This wonderful achievement follows another success for the team who, in October, won two prestigious national awards for their work in regulating the Ascot Racecourse redevelopment."
