Kings Oak Primary Learning Centre in Barnsley has been highly commended in the 'Inspiring Design – Primary School' category at the British Council for School Environments' (BCSE) awards for best practice in design and construction of schools.

The centre was designed by HLM architects.

Ty Goddard, Director of the BCSE, said: "The quality of entries led to some fierce debate amongst the judges and rightly so. But Kings Oak Primary Learning Centre shows that the right investment and approach can produce fantastic projects which we can be proud of and all learn from.

"Our thanks go to all for being willing to invest their time and energy in a project which ensures pupils and teachers in Barnsley have such an inspirational place to learn and teach in."
