Green-fingered youngsters in Angmering did their bit for the environment by planting new trees at Palmer Road Recreation Ground as part of the Tree 4 Life scheme.

The trees were supplied by Angmering tree warden Ken Penny. The planting also commemorated last year's 20th anniversary of the great storm in October 1987.

The project was organised by Mr Penny, with contributions from Arun District Council's Parks and Greenspace department which manages the site and the Council's grounds maintenance contractors ISS Waterers.

Funding for the project was also received from West Sussex County Council, The Body Shop and Angmering Parish Council.

The Tree 4 Life scheme aims to provide shade for future generations to better protect them from the harmful UV rays of the sun and increasing temperatures.
