A new hotel at Ratho Park close to Edinburgh Airport has been given the green light by Edinburgh City Council planners.
Developed by The EDI Group Limited (EDI), the 97-bed hotel will go on site in April 2008, opening to guests next year.
Set in landscaped grounds and operated by Travelodge, the hotel will include a restaurant and café/bar together with car parking for 70 cars.
The hotel is expected to generate around 25 jobs, for staff in reception, bar café and housekeeping roles.
It will eventually sit alongside a new three-storey office building: together these represent the second phase of EDI's successful development at Ratho Park. The first, now fully occupied phase was completed in 2005.
3D Reid have designed both new buildings for EDI. Their brief from EDI was to "design a building of quality that does not look like a traditional Travelodge".
As a result, the building is of a high quality contemporary design and finished in quality materials. A simple palette of stone, render, zinc and glass will complement the colour and texture of the adjacent office building.
Two minutes from the M8/M9 Interchange and just five minutes from Edinburgh International Airport, the new developments are well located for companies that require good transport links.
