The South East of England Development agency (SEEDA) has appointed Dan Staniaszek to the newly created post of Environment Director.

Dan has over 20 years experience on issues covering the environment and ecological footprint in both the public and private sectors gained during periods of the Energy Saving trust (EST) and secondments to central government.

From 2003 until 2007, Dan was Director of Evaluation at EST where his role broadened significantly to include environment accreditation, sustainability more generally, as well as corporate functions such as corporate challenge. Most recently he was working with Defra as a government policy advisor.

Dan joined SEEDA at the beginning of this month and will be working very closely with Oona Muirhead the Executive Director of Sustainable Prosperity and her team.

The Regional Economic Strategy (RES) for the South East is actively working towards reducing the rate of increase in the region’s ecological footprint and as such the environment and sustainability is integral to its success.

Commenting on his new position, Mr Staniaszek, said: "I am delighted to be taking up the challenging new post of Environmental Director, and look forward to working with colleagues across SEEDA, as well as with organisations across the South East, to deliver the ambitious environmental objectives set out in the Regional Economic Strategy and Implementation Plan."
