Border residents have expressed outrage at plans to turn the Crooks Inn, which was the oldest licensed pub in Scotland into a block of flats.

Planning officers have already recommended Inverwest Ltd's plans for approval.

The current owner wants to convert the property, which is located in the Peeblesshire village of Tweedsmuir, into four flats and a house.

The issue will be discussed with Tweeddale area committee.

Campaigners claim that a "proper attempt" has not been made to sell the property at market value and that it has been overpriced and undervalued.

Campaigners have set up The Tweedsmuir Community Company they aim to buy the property and run it so that any profits could be put back into the local area.
