The classification of contracts for building warships on the River Clyde as commercial by the Ministry of Defence could threaten the future of yards in Govan and Scotsoun a GMB union Boss has warned.
Union boss Jamie Webster, said: "They can be put out to tender across Europe. Clyde work could peter out by 2011."
The ship yards employ around 3,500 people.
