The development of 149 new homes in Eaves Green, Chorley, took a step forward today with the announcement of the preferred developer for the site. National regeneration agency, English Partnerships, have selected Miller Homes to deliver the new housing project in South West Chorley, Lancashire.
After successfully engaging in community consultation, outline planning permission has already been granted on the 6.5 hectares site for 149 new homes, from two bedroom apartments to three, four and five bedroom family homes.
The new development is set to be an innovative exemplar scheme with the implementation of the 'Home Zone' design principles. The 'Home Zone' philosophy improves road safety, bu giving equal priority to both people and vehicles in residential areas. This will be the first English Partnerships development in Lancashire, where the 'Home Zone' principles have been adopted.
Lance Houghton, Head of Sales at English Partnerships, said: "Miller Homes is an award winning housebuilder with an excellent track record and have successfully delivered the 'Home Zone' principles on other developments and this was an essential element in the winning bid.
"The transfer of ownerships of this previously undeveloped site to Miller Homes, will provide much needed homes for local residents, contributing to both local and national housing targets."
The proposals from the Miller Homes team will also meet the Eco-Homes 'Very Good' standard and include a variety of apartments, mews houses, townhouses and detached properties, all in keeping with the current style and design of the local area.
The scheme will complete the final phase of development at Eaves Green. In November Lancashire County Council officially opened the Eaves Green Link Road, which is the final stretch of the Chorley Western Bypass. The highly successful project was delivered 15 weeks earlier than planned and will significantly reduce traffic on the existing roads, providing a safer, purpose built route to the south and west of Chorley town. The construction of this final link was substantially funded by the development at Eaves Green under the realms of a planning agreement with English Partnerships, Lancashire County Council and Chorley Borough Council.
