The Highways Agency has appointed Atos Origin to manage its information technology provision and infrastructure.
Atos Origin will now be responsible for the provision of a service desk providing support and maintenance of IT facilities for 2,500 staff as well as the on-going support of a large and complex suite of applications.
The five year contract, worth over £75m, will mean the transfer of all IT infrastructure and in excess of 120 staff and contractors to Atos Origin, with the Agency hoping to save a minimum 15% of their annual IT budget.
The Highways Agency is an executive agency of the Department for Transport. They manage, maintain and improve England's motorways and major A roads on behalf of the Secretary of State.
