UK and International construction and management consultancy group Turner & Townsend has been appointed by the Tourism Development and Investment Company to carry out the project management and high level commercial management for the Eastern Mangrove Development in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Eastern Mangrove Development comprises a world class hotel, residential community and marina in an idyllic setting opposite the mangrove reserve on the eastern side of Abu Dhabi.

Turner & Townsend Director Andrew Duncan said: "This major development not only underlines our market leading experience in the hotel and hospitality sector within the region but also supports the further expansion of Turner & Townsend’s business into Abu Dhabi."

The 5-star hotel is to be operated by Banyan Tree under its Angsana brand and will provide 220 guestroom keys in total, including a presidential suite, executive suites, a modern conference and business centre, health spa and resort facilities.

The development also includes a range of architecturally matched luxury apartments built around the marina and additional mooring facilities to provide access to the waterways and mangrove reserve.

The marina and hotel will support a number of individually operated restaurants and retail outlets, and will be fronted by a promenade landscaped with recreational areas and water features modelled on a Spanish theme derived from Andalusia and Catalonia.
