The MP for Greenwich and Woolwich Nick Raynsford is to be the next President of the National Home improvement Council.
He takes over from Lord Brooke, of Sutton Mandeville CH PC, who is stepping down.
Mr Raynsford has held the Greenwich and Woolwich seat since 1992. He joined the Government in 1997 taking responsibility for housing, planning and construction, as well as being Minister for London. Subsequently he was Minister for Local and Regional Government in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister from 2001 to 2005.
He is currently Chairman of the Construction Industry Council and a Vice President of the Town and Country Planning Association, Honorary Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and Chairman of the NHBC Foundation, the Fire Protection Association Council and the London Open House Supporters at Large Group.
