Aberdeenshire Council Given One Month Ultimatum On Trump's Golf Plan

Aberdeenshire Council have been given a month's deadline after they rejected Donald Trump's £1billion golf course plan.

The tycoon's lawyer's threatened to drop the scheme for two golf courses and a five-star hotel at the Menie Estate near Balmedie and move the project to Northern Ireland.

At a meeting between the tycoon's lawyers and the council yesterday the Trump representatives stated they didn't want to undertake a time-consuming appeal.

Trump's lawyer Goerge Sorial said an appeal was "not an attractive option."

He also added that Northern Ireland has been an option "all along". "We have a good relationship with the government of Northern Ireland and their planning policies are a lot more reasonable and welcoming," he continued.

Council chiefs said they will call an urgent meeting to consider the matter. They are to check their standing orders and look at possible options for overturning the decision.
