Pre-tax profits have risen by 46 per cent to £42.7 million at engineering consultants WS Atkins.
Operating profit jumped from 27.3 million to £40.1 million for the six months to September 30.
Major projects such as London's 2012 Olympics and framework deals with utilities such as ScottishWater have also contribted to a 11 per cent increase in revenue.
Boss Keith Clarke said: "We are well positioned to improve and grow."
Disposal of Lambert Smith Hampton completed for a profit of £20 million.
