Bristol City Council is staging a series of 'roadshows' offering the public the chance to find out more about its plans to demolish 549 pre-cast reinforced concrete homes (PRCs) and re-develop the land in a number of areas of the city.
Following consultation on draft planning briefs in September and October this year, the Council is publishing draft plans, or initial development proposals, setting out the numbers and types of homes which could be re-built once the defective PRCs are removed in Sea Mills, Henbury, Lockleaze and Lawrence and Lawrence Weston.
The council has undertaken a number of surveys and assessments of its PRCs and the vast majority of them are repairable and more than 2,000 of them are being repaired. However, in the case of the properties identified for demolition, they are too expensive to repair.
Councillor Judith Price, Executive Member for Neighbourhoods, said: "The drop-in sessions offer residents the chance to have a look at the draft plans and put any questions they may have to planning consultants. We’re making these as accessible as we can and I would urge anyone with an interest to come along and find out more."
Roadshows will be held in the estates affected by the planned re-development and the drop-in sessions will enable members of the public to view plans and ask questions of planning consultants who will be on hand at all the events.
They will be held at: Henbury Youth Centre, Machin Road, Henbury, on Friday, November 23 from 2pm until 8pm and Monday, November 26 from 9.30am until 3pm.
St Bede’s Catholic College, Lawrence Weston Road, Lawrence Weston, on Friday, November 30 from 4.30pm until 8pm and on Thursday, December 6 from 4.30pm until 8pm, and at The Rock Community Centre, St Peter’s Church Hall, Ridingleaze, Lawrence Weston, on Monday, December 3 from 10am until 4pm.
Lockleaze Community Association, Romney Avenue, Lockleaze, on Tuesday, November 20 from 4pm until 8pm and at Lockleaze Cameron Centre, Cameron Walk, Lockleaze, on Friday, December 7 from 10am until 4pm.
Sea Mills Community Centre, Sunny Hill, off Sylvan Way, Sea Mills, on Tuesday, November 27 from 2pm until 8pm; on Wednesday 28 from 10am until 3.30pm; on Tuesday, December 4 from 2pm until 8pm and on Wednesday, December 5 from 10am until 3.30pm.
