A specialist door manufacturer is expanding its premises to open a frame and doorset centre, creating 20 new jobs.
Conduit Construction Network Ltd, based in Cramling, Northumberland, manufacture specialist timber door sets in the commercial construction market, including soundproofing or fireproofing, and for use in public buildings.
Established in 2005, the fledging firm secured a £72,000 Selective Finance for Investment grant from One NorthEast to bolster its £212,000 project.
The new CEDor™ in-house frame centre and doorset plant will allow the firm to increase output capacity for frame manufacture, doorset assembly and hardware coordination in line market growth.
The scheme will more than double the existing workforce and include a range of skilled disciplines including joiners, salesmen and estimators.
Laurence Maguire, Managing Director at Conduit Construction Network, said: "The advance of lean construction techniques has led to an increased market demand for complete timber doorsets. We needed to respond to this trend by investing in plant, machinery and new staff to bring all disciplines under one roof. This will allow us to half current industry lead times.
"We are delighted to be awarded the SFI grant as it will enable us to expand the Frame and Doorset Centre. This is a huge opportunity for the firm and I very much look forward to seeing the new centre take shape."
Ian Williams, Director of Business and Industry at One NorthEast, added: "One NorthEast is delighted to assist innovative companies like this, who are growing so quickly in their early years.
"Laurence has a strong background in the industry and his entrepreneurial skills are driving the business forward. It is important for us to show our support for this type of vision and I look forward to watching the business develop in the future."
