The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) and the West of England Partnership, which includes North Somerset Council, is pioneering a new approach to communicating climate change.
As part of this new approach a life-size model house full of energy saving ideas and gadgets will be on show at the Campus, Locking Castle, Weston-super-Mare from November 21 to 24.
The 100 Ideas House is a life-size model of a modern house, full of environmentally friendly and energy saving measures and devices. It is designed to show people how easy it is to incorporate small energy-saving measures into a normal and aspirational modern lifestyle.
The CSE carried out research which showed that green messages are failing to reach a significant proportion of the UK population. Too often, climate change communications fail to reach their key audience and instead end up 'preaching to the converted'.
The 100 Ideas House is one way of showing that being green can be incorporated in everyone's everyday lives.
It is also designed to look modern and attractive and it incorporates many energy-saving measures that are within everyone's reach and that do not take away from its style.
Visitors will be able to discuss climate change, the ideas on show and they will be encouraged to build on the steps that they have already taken in their day-to-day lives.
There will also be information, a competition and free gifts to take away.
The exhibition runs from November 21 to 24 and for further information contact Kim Herivel, Home Energy Efficiency Officer on 01934 634 807 or visit the website on: www.100ideashouse.com.
