A survey conducted by Scottish housebuilder, Rok, has revealed the Scottish public is overwhelmingly in favour of the new plans to build affordable housing.
Over 81 per cent of Scots said they would be happy, not only for new housing to be built, but to be built near them. The figures demonstrate the Scottish public's acknowledgment of the present housing crises.
The figures were revealed following an announcement by the Scottish Executive last week, who are planning to reform housing provision to ensure an adequate supply of affordable housing by building 35,000 extra homes per year.
The news is huge sign of encouragement for the Minister for Health and well being, Nicola Sturgeon, who is championing the new housing policy. The policy has also recently received backing from representatives of the Scottish private building Industry, Homes for Scotland.
