Glasgow Based Company Appoints Commercial Manager For Scotland

Affordable housing provider, Lovell, has appointed Scott Mercer as its commercial manager for Scotland.

Former Project Commercial Manager for Carillion Construction, Scott, 44, will be based in the company's Glasgow Business Park offices and will be responsible for the commercial management of all Scottish projects.

During his time at Carillion, Scott worked on a number of high-profile building projects including the Glasgow Science Centre and the News International printing facility at Eurocentral, near Motherwell. His career has included senior positions at Taylor Woodrow, Wimpey and Tarmac.

Alan Taylor, Lovell regional director for Scotland said: "Scott has extensive experience in the affordable housing sector and his appointment further strengthens our management team at a time when we are expanding across all areas of business with our public sector partners."

He added: "We have achieved steady annual growth since opening our offices in Glasgow in 2001 and with a very healthy order book we are looking forward to continuing to build on our strong position."

With a forward order book of over £200 million in Scotland alone, the company is heavily involved in the refurbishment of public sector housing stock, striving to help local authorities and housing associations deliver the Scottish Executive's commitments on social housing.

Lovell projects currently in progress include; the Glasgow Housing Association's modernisation programme, with £70 million set to be invested in upgrading homes over the next three years; the over cladding of three multi-storey blocks for North Lanarkshire Council; a 290-house development for Dunedin Canmore Housing Association at Oxgangs in Edinburgh and a £17 million refurbishment scheme at Moredun and Hyvots.
