More than 20 teams of housebuilders descended on the Hope Valley in the Peak District to take part in the gruelling two-day NHBC HopeBuilder Charity Challenge in September.

As the culmination of a year of fundraising for international housing charity Habitat for Humanity (HFH), NHBC invited housebuilders to compete in a weekend of extreme physical and mental challenges which pushed many to their limits.

Paul Cooper, Managing Director of Linden Homes South East - overall winners of the Challenge, said: "We really enjoyed the weekend which was both mentally and physically challenging but great fun and extremely well organised as well. Having to build and sleep in a shelter on the first day reinforced the charitable focus whilst continuing to be fun and the fact that we came out as the overall winners was extremely rewarding."

Imtiaz Farookhi, NHBC's Chief Executive, who led the NHBC Executive team, said: "I was extremely impressed by the stoic enthusiasm and determination of the housebuilder teams who gave up their free time to take part.

"NHBC is very grateful, not only for the physical effort they put in to completing the Challenge, but for their fundraising activities surrounding the event."
