Distinguished architect Richard Rogers is set to deliver the 2007 Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Trust Annual Discourse on 10 October 2007.

Established in 1957, the Annual Discourse's central remit is to invite international speakers to address themes and issues relating to a wider context. In this year's lecture, Lord Rogers will focus on architecture's social role and the sustainable urban development of towns and cities. He will discuss how compact sustainable cities are environmentally responsive through a hierarchy of densities, a mix of uses and tenures, coherent public transport, walking and cycling infrastructures and well designed public spaces and buildings.

The event launches the autumn programme of the 'International Dialogues: Architecture and Climate Change' talks series in partnership with One Planet Living, which explores climate change and the ecology of places and spaces around the world.
