The Network VEKA sponsored expedition to cross the Gobi Desert in Mongolia entirely by kite power has gained a place in the famous Guinness World Records book.

The three adventurers crossed over 1,000km of hostile terrain, riding specially adapted kite buggies to claim the record for the longest ever journey of its kind. Their feat, three years ago, was recognised as a record last year after thorough checking and validation but too late to appear in that edition of the book.

Leading the Network VEKA Gobi-Kites Expedition was Professor Brian Cunningham, now 64, of Bolton with Kieron Bradley, 33, and Pete Ash, 39, both of Norwich.

Network VEKA chose to sponsor the project in support of its motto 'Reliable in the Extreme'.

MD John Ogilvie said: "The expedition itself was a fantastic achievement but we are especially delighted for their efforts to be featured in the book."
