Pyeroy Extends Its Asbestos Work In Scotland

Construction services group Pyeroy has expanded its specialist asbestos removal and waste handling capabilities with the acquisition of a business in Scotland.

Pyeroy has acquired the Paisley-based asbestos division of Gordons Environmental Ltd for an undisclosed sum.

Gordons is a long established business providing specialist environmental, waste disposal and tank cleaning services throughout Scotland.

Under the new arrangements, the specialist asbestos management and removal services previously provided by Gordons will expand and complement Pyeroy's existing hazardous waste management and disposal services that are based at the company’s Gateshead headquarters.

The newly acquired asbestos business will now operate out of Pyeroy's Rosyth office as part of the company’s Industrial Division.

Pyeroy is a long established and fully licensed asbestos contractor and provides a full range of environmental services for the investigation and control of asbestos contamination of all types of buildings and sites. It also operates its own Environment Agency approved asbestos waste transfer transfer station.

As a result the company Pyeroy has become one of the North of England's leading asbestos removal and management companies and the new arrangements will extend the company's market coverage throughout Scotland.

Brendan Fitzsimons, industrial division director, said: "Gordon's is a well established business and the new arrangements will enhance the range of construction services available from Pyeroy in Scotland.

"We will be taking over immediate responsibility for all of Gordon's asbestos work and, while we have previously carried out some work in Scotland, the new acquisition will give us a much stronger platform to further expand our activities here."

Founded in 1973, Pyero employs around 900 people and has a turnover of nearly £50 million per annum.
