Dawn Construction has won a £60 million construction contract together with the facilities management contract for two new secondary schools at Armadale Academy and Deans Community School, Livingston.
The contract – as part of HDM Schools Solutions Ltd, a consortium comprising Dawn Construction, Hochtief PPP Solutions and Pacific Partners LLP - adds to
Dawn’s growing portfolio and profile in the PPP/PFI market.
Dawn has also secured the contract to provide the facilities management for each school which will increase the project total to £100 million for the construction firm.
The deal comes just days after the opening of Stanley Primary School in Ardrossan, part of the £80 million North Ayrshire Schools PFI. Greenwood Academy in Dreghorn will open to pupils in October.
Building on this education experience Dawn Construction is currently bidding for the £80 million Inverclyde Schools PFI as part of the Inverclyde Community Partnership consortium, together with Laing Investment and Barr Construction.
As part of the West Lothian Schools project Armadale Academy and Deans Community High School will be demolished and replaced with modern, state of the art buildings, enhanced by a wide range of new facilities including additional classrooms, games hall, dance studios, fitness rooms, swimming pools, full size all-weather synthetic pitches with outdoor changing facilities customised to meet the needs of local communities. The schools have a combined total of 2,300 pupils.
Construction work on the two schools has now started and is expected to be completed by August 2009.
