Euroclass A1 Fire Rating For Ceiling Tiles

Acoustic specialist Hodgson and Hodgson Group has achieved a Euroclass A1 fire rating for its Thermos acoustic ceiling tile pads.

The rating, part of a new common system of fire testing across the European Union, is the highest product standard for non-combustibility. Thermos acoustic ceiling tile pads are designed to be an integral component of perforated metal suspended ceiling grid systems. They incorporate thermal insulation, acoustic absorption and fire ratings to enable clients to meet Building Regulations, as well as their own specific requirements.

In a typical six metres square suspended ceiling, they can provide room to room sound insulation of 34dB. The A1 rating that Hodgson and Hodgson has just been awarded is for its Type E ceiling tile pad at 25mm thick x 45kg/m density.

"The A1 standard is the highest European fire safety classification that can be granted to a product," said Glynne Balshaw-Jones of Hodgson and Hodgson. "The test criteria are stringent and the products really have to perform."
