Construction Starts On £20M 5-Star Hotel In Belfast

Construction has commenced on a luxury £20 million in Belfast's city centre.

The Fitzwilliam Hotel will have more than 130 luxury rooms and is being planned as a five-star hotel, which will make it the second in the city centre.

Businesswoman June Burgess owns the site and hotel, through her company Graffan Properties Ltd.

Lord Mayor Jim Rogers has welcomed the building of the new hotel, which will be a further boost to the city’s economy and Belfast’s tourism trade.

Hotel Partners, the hotel management company that runs the five-star Fitzwilliam Hotel in Dublin, will also manage the hotel in Belfast.

Construction on the sister hotel has begun, and it is anticipated it will be open in early 2009.

Expected to create more than 100 jobs, the Belfast Fitzwilliam Hotel will be built on Great Victoria Street, next to the Grand Opera House.
