A new bridge carrying Lodge Lane over the A5117 at Deeside Park will start to take shape overnight on Saturday 18 August when two beams are lifted into place.
A giant crane will be used to lift the 40 tonne beams into place over the road as part of a £51.4 million junction improvement scheme.
The A5117 will be closed between Parkgate Roundabout and the Woodbank junction between 9pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday 19 August to allow the work on the 30-metre long bridge to go ahead.
Traffic will be diverted via the A540 Parkgate Road to Two Mills junction and the A550 to Woodbank.
Ann Farquhar, Highways Agency (North West) Project Manager, said: “The road must be closed to ensure the safety of road users and workers. The work is being carried out overnight to minimise disruption to drivers but we would advise people who will be travelling then to allow extra time for their journeys and take extra care near roadworks.”
The A5117 improvements will replace two roundabouts and a signal controlled junction with a free-flow route which will reduce traffic congestion, improve safety and support regeneration.
The road is the main route between the North West and North Wales.
Work on the new five kilometre long dual carriageway started in October 2006 and is due to be finished in autumn 2008.
