Mitsubishi Electric Living Environmental Systems’ proactive stance on reducing carbon emissions has seen the company shortlisted in the Environmental Pioneer of the Year category at the prestigious RAC Cooling Industry Awards 2007.

Mitsubishi announced a comprehensive ten-point plan in its Green Gateway Initiative which it launched in Westminster in June.

The initiative points the way to savings of over three million tonnes of CO2 per year by 2016, through the adoption of technological developments and new thinking combined with simple behavioural changes such as better maintenance regimes or not using the thermostat as an on/off button.

"We are looking to use our strong market position to try and influence the way we as a nation heat and cool our buildings," explained Sharon Oliver, Marketing Communications Manager. "Recognition such as this is, therefore, great news as we can use it to reach even more people with this important energy saving message."
