After a year of judging 400 site managers have been named as `Quality Award' winners in this year's prestigious `Pride in the Job' competition.
Now in its 27th year, NHBC's Pride in the Job is the only national competition to focus on the contribution the site manager makes in producing high quality new homes.
Barratt Homes Ltd site managers have secured the most awards with a total of 71 Quality Awards. Also featuring strongly are Persimmon Homes Ltd and George Wimpey (part of Taylor Wimpey plc) who took the second and third largest number of awards respectively.
Over 18,000 site managers are entered into the awards and each are assessed across 38 aspects of site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and leadership and organisational skills.
NHBC's Chief Executive, Imtiaz Farookhi, said: "Pride in the Job rewards site managers who demonstrate exceptional levels of professionalism in every aspect of their work on site, from their organisation of the site, to the quality controls in place.
"With a range of challenges facing the house-building industry, such as increasing the supply of new homes, raising customer satisfaction levels and meeting ever higher environmental standards, no other award is more indicative of a house builder's attitude to quality and high standards."
The Quality Award winners will now go forward to compete in the next round for a 'Top 100 Seal of Excellence' Award and a 'Regional' Award. The competition reaches its climax in January 2008 when the UK's three overall 'Supreme' winners will be announced at a Gala Awards ceremony in London.
