Boyes Rees Architects has won three projects in the health sector, collaboratively worth £87 million.
The award-winning architects will be working as a member of Interserve Health Wales’ team, part of Interserve Project Services Ltd, on three projects in the South and West Wales area, awarded under the Welsh Health Estates ‘Designed for Life: Building for Wales’ framework.
Boyes Rees is the principle architect on a £50m project to reshape the mental health services in Swansea, a £32m mental health unit development at Llandough Hospital for Cardiff & Vale NHS Trust and a £5m project to design a new breast care facility at Prince Phillip Hospital, Llanelli.
The commissions were awarded at Outline Business Case stage and include development through to Full Business Case stage and construction.
Jane Boyes, Managing Director of Boyes Rees Architects commented: “We were delighted to be selected as the supply chain architect to Interserve Health Wales’ consortium under the Building for Wales framework.
“Our growing expertise in the healthcare sector has enabled us to demonstrate through the bid process our ability to design quality healthcare facilities and we are looking forward to seeing our work come to life during the construction process.”
Neil Holloman of Interserve, added: “”Interserve has been established in Wales for over 60 years and has created any important facilities for the community, including Neath Port Talbot Hospital in 2002. These project awards under the ‘Designed for Life: Building for Wales’ framework agreement will enable us to deliver further first-class hospitals and healthcare amenities for the people of Wales.”
Interserve’s consortium also undertakes healthcare planning, cost consultancy, services, installation, CDM, co-ordination, professional services consultancy and construction.
Designed for Life: Building for Wales is a construction procurement framework set up by Welsh Health Estates to deliver 21st century healthcare to the people of Wales.
Based on the development of long-term strategic partnerships and the active promotion of integrated supply chains, it was established in the middle of 2006 and is scheduled to run for four years with a further two-year extension option.
