The most recent Holiday Inn Express, in Hamilton, is set to open this summer after the building was handed over to owners Lynnham Properties Ltd by Dawn Construction.
Set in the Palace Grounds of Hamilton, the project consisted of constructing the six-storey 104 bedroomed building, a service yard and two sub-ground floor units providing a total of 13,000 square feet of retail space, taking just 72 weeks to complete.
Dawn Construction has an impressive track record and a strong reputation in the hotel sector.
In recent years Dawn has built a number of high quality hotels including the prestigious Langs Hotel in Glasgow, Western House at Ayr Racecourse, Rugby Park Hotel and Conference Centre in Kilmarnock as well as the Sleep Inn in Glasgow.
Just last year Dawn also completed the top end Dakota Hotel at Eurocentral – a joint venture concept created by Glaswegian hotelier Ken McCulloch (the man responsible for the city’s original One Devonshire Hotel and the Malmaison chain, among others) and Formula One driver David Coulthard.
The build incorporated modern construction concepts including pre-fabricated concrete walls and floor units and fully-fitted bathrooms pods being created off-site and placed into the hotel ready for the customer.
Managing Director of Dawn Construction, Ray Eve commented: “The site itself is within very close proximity to the Palace Grounds retail area of Hamilton and sits in a very impressive and imposing position within the town. The two retail spaces at the bottom of the hotel will extend the shopping area further.
“The site is within a relatively busy area of the town however the job was completed to the highest standard with no disruption to the public.
“The new hotel is ideally placed for easy access to the motorway to both Glasgow and Edinburgh. Hamilton is also in the heart of Lanarkshire so is very well placed for business users throughout the region and will be an asset to the town.”
