Mactaggart & Mickel Awarded Considerate Constructors Scheme Accolade

Mactaggart & Mickel, the family-owned housebuilder, is the only private housebuilder to have been presented with a coveted Considerate Constructors Scheme Bronze Award during this year’s Scottish awards.

The company was recognised for the proactive, considerate work undertaken at its Barony Gate site in the residential suburb of Anniesland in Glasgow.

Mactaggart & Mickel site manager, Paul Starritt, collected the accolade from Michael Levack, chief executive of Scottish Building during a ceremony in Edinburgh’s Caledonian Hotel.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme Awards recognises private and public sector organisations registered with the Scheme. Each are monitored by an experienced industry professional to assess performance against an eight-point code of considerate practice including: considerate; environment; cleanliness; good neighbour; respectful; safe; responsible and accountable.

The Barony Gate development involved the construction of 62 townhouses and apartments. The judges highlighted the fact that the inherent problems of building in a busy residential area were well addressed, commencing with early information letters to the local residents and a regular flow of information via the site sales office.

Consideration for the safety and wellbeing of the local residents was given high priority throughout the construction period, with particular attention being paid to maintaining the footways, roads and areas around the site in a clean and tidy condition.
