Miller Construction is set to start work on the £30 million Meridian Gate project in Cardiff, for Imperial Properties.
This 250,000 sq ft mixed-use development will create prime hotel and residential space in the heart of the city, located between the major highways and the main rail line between Cardiff and London.
It will comprise a 215-bedroom hotel as well as 118 private residential apartments with basement car parking.
This is Miller Construction’s second major project in South Wales since the completion of Morfa Retail Centre, a 287,000 sq ft mixed use development located to the north of Swansea City Centre on the site of the Morfa Athletics Stadium.
Gordon Kew, Regional Director of Major Projects, Miller Construction, said: “Negotiating the contract for Meridian Gate following the completion of the Morfa Retail Centre demonstrates our commitment to the South Wales market and further cements our position as contractor of choice for our key clients.
“The extensive work carried out at Morfa Retail Centre illustrates our capabilities when it comes to large and complex developments and the undertaking at Cardiff is similar in scale and complexity.”
The project is scheduled for completion in October 2008.
