North Norfolk District Council has reopened its Call for Sites, inviting landowners, developers, agents, businesses, organisations and members of the public to propose land that could be suitable for future development across the district.

This second Call for Sites will run from Monday 20 July to Monday 31 August 2026. It follows an initial window held between 1 June and 13 July 2026.

The exercise forms part of the Council's early work on a new Local Plan under the Government's reformed plan-making system. Submissions can include land for a variety of potential uses, such as housing, employment, infrastructure, open space, community facilities and other purposes.

The additional submission period offers another chance for anyone who could not take part previously, or who has identified further land, to put forward sites for consideration.

Proposing a site does not guarantee that it will be allocated for development. All sites will be assessed alongside other evidence and information to inform future land-use decisions.

The Local Plan guides planning application decisions and helps determine where development should occur across North Norfolk, balancing the need for homes, jobs and infrastructure with protecting the district's environment, heritage and communities.

The current North Norfolk Local Plan, adopted in December 2025, runs to 2040. However, extensive changes to national planning legislation and policy mean the Council must prepare a new Local Plan using the Government's new plan-making framework. As part of preparing the plan, the Council must consider a broad range of potential development opportunities to ensure a robust evidence base capable of meeting future growth needs.

How to submit a site: the Call for Sites is being conducted online. Submissions must be made via the Council's dedicated website and include information about the land and its possible uses. Applicants will first need to draw the site boundary on an online map.

To be accepted, sites must be capable of accommodating at least five dwellings or be 0.25 hectares or larger. A separate submission is required for each parcel of land; combined submissions for multiple parcels will not be accepted.
