Robertson Projects Lauded At RICS Regional Awards

Three Robertson-delivered projects have been recognised by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) as exemplars of the built and natural environment across the UK at recent regional ceremonies.

In Scotland, the comprehensive refurbishment of BlackRock's Edinburgh office secured the Commercial Development award, and the new-build MacMillan Square Community Hub for the City of Edinburgh Council won the Community Benefit category.

BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, relocated its Edinburgh team to a state-of-the-art workplace following a £48m transformation delivered by Robertson Construction Central East last year. The New Town site was upgraded to Grade A space for 1,500 employees, featuring innovative, high-quality facilities.

The MacMillan Square Community Hub combines a library, a 185-place early learning centre and expanded arts amenities in one building, alongside six affordable homes and a social enterprise café. The project generated significant community benefits, including an £8.2m spend with local suppliers, 500 hours of volunteering, employment for 73 local people and 800 apprenticeship weeks.

In England, the Grade II listed Redcar Central Station, delivered for Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, was Highly Commended in the Heritage category at the Yorkshire & Humber ceremony. Robertson Construction North East restored the Victorian landmark, repurposing its derelict engine shed into a flexible new venue. Works included preserving and strengthening original timber trusses, installing a new 'birdcage' structure and rooflights to bring in natural light, and retaining traditional materials such as slate and brick where possible.

The station now offers essential rail facilities and a vibrant retail and leisure hub, with shops, bars, restaurants, flexible workspaces and community spaces.

Recognition across these diverse categories reflects the collaboration of teams and partners and the quality delivered for customers.

Elliot Robertson, Chief Executive Officer, Robertson Group, said: "I'm immensely proud of the work that our teams carry out every day, and to have this recognition from RICS reinforces the calibre at Team Robertson. We had a number of projects shortlisted across the regions and I congratulate, not only the winners, but all those who were recognised through inclusion in these awards."

The two Scottish winners will now progress to the RICS UK Grand Final in October.
