Construction has begun on a new multi-million-pound care home in Ipswich, bringing a range of on-site amenities including a café, cinema and hair salon.
Located on Kettlebaston Way, the Care UK facility will provide residential, dementia, nursing and respite care for up to 70 older people and is expected to create around 65 jobs.
Plans include secure, wheelchair-friendly landscaped outdoor areas with sensory gardens and seating, encouraging residents to spend time outside.
Jason Protheroe, Development Project Manager for Care UK, said: "We're delighted to share that work has commenced at Ipswich’s new site. This impressive development – set to become our 15th care home in Suffolk – reflects our commitment to improving residential care in the region.
"At Care UK, we take great pride in the build quality of each home, carefully considering design and layout in order to improve the everyday experiences of those living in a care environment. This thoughtfully planned new home will live up to these standards, providing a high-quality home for older people in Ipswich and the surrounding areas."
Jordan Connachie, Managing Director of Kori Construction, added: "Breaking ground on this new care home is a significant milestone and marks the beginning of another exciting chapter in our long-standing partnership with Care UK and for our new client Morrison Community Care Group.
"Having successfully delivered a number of high-quality care environments for Care UK, we're delighted to see work underway on what will become an outstanding new home for the Ipswich community.
"We look forward to working closely with Morrison Community Care Group, Care UK and our project partners over the coming months to deliver a care home that will make a positive and lasting difference for residents, their families and the wider community."
