National Housing Bank Backs Long Harbour Single Family Housing Fund

Long Harbour, the living sector specialist investment manager, has secured a £100 million equity commitment from the National Housing Bank (NHB) for its Long Harbour Single Family Housing Fund (LHSFF), lifting total equity raised for the strategy to £400 million.

The latest backing follows a £300 million seed equity commitment from South Korea's National Pension Fund (NPS) in December 2024, with NHB’s investment made on a matched funding basis. The move signals support for the UK residential and build-to-rent market while drawing on Long Harbour’s track record of attracting capital from major international institutions.

LHSFF delivers new-build family homes for rent nationwide, with a focus on the South and South East of England. To date, the fund has committed around £200 million in partnership with developers to deliver almost 500 homes, and has identified a further £500 million of opportunities.

The first homes in the portfolio are due to be handed over across multiple sites this summer and will be managed by Way of Life, Long Harbour’s vertically integrated management platform.

Jack Spearman, Managing Director of Single Family Housing at Long Harbour, said: "We are proud to have secured investment from the National Housing Bank into our latest single family fund. As one of the National Housing Bank's first equity investment partners, we are working together to accelerate the delivery of much-needed new homes across the country.

"We have made strong progress deploying capital across a growing portfolio, and with a robust pipeline of further acquisitions, we are well positioned to scale at pace. Our tailored operational platform for single family homes, combined with the customer experience delivered by Way of Life, ensures we can meet the needs of modern renters while driving long-term value."

The National Housing Bank, a subsidiary of Homes England launched on 1 April 2026, brings together Homes England’s investment pools and aims to unlock billions of pounds of private sector capital over the next decade to accelerate the delivery of thousands of homes. With long-term, flexible capital, the bank intends to act as a consistent partner to the private sector, providing stability and certainty for developers and investors.
