Willmott Dixon has finished the new complex and formally handed it to Central Bedfordshire Council.
Operated by Everyone Active on the council's behalf, the centre opened on Saturday 27 June.
Facilities include an eight‑lane, 25‑metre main pool, a learner pool with a movable floor, a dedicated splash pool, a 150‑station gym, multiple fitness studios and specialist wellbeing spaces.
Outside, the development provides landscaped public areas, improved site access and outdoor changing rooms to serve neighbouring sports facilities being delivered as part of the Clipstone Park scheme.
Simon Ramage, managing director at Willmott Dixon, said: "Leighton Linslade Leisure Centre represents the delivery of a modern, future-focused community asset designed to support both operational performance and long-term community wellbeing. “By combining sustainable design principles with high-quality leisure provision, the project demonstrates how local authority developments can create lasting value for communities while also supporting wider environmental ambitions."
The scheme was delivered using BIM Level 2 methods to streamline coordination, particularly across design and MEP integration, reducing waste and improving construction efficiency.
Sustainability measures include a high‑performance building fabric, low‑carbon heating and ventilation systems, SuDS‑compliant landscaping and materials chosen for whole‑life performance.
Replacing the Tiddenfoot Leisure Centre, the new venue is intended as a multi‑generational hub to encourage greater participation in physical activity and expand access to inclusive health and wellbeing services across the area.
