Caddick Completes HARIBO Factory Expansion In West Yorkshire

Construction News Image

Caddick Construction has completed a major expansion of HARIBO UK’s production and distribution facility in Castleford, strengthening the confectionery manufacturer’s ability to meet increasing consumer demand across the UK.

The newly completed extension, located on a 13-hectare site adjacent to HARIBO’s existing factory at Whitwood Common Lane, will provide additional capacity for storing raw materials, packaging and finished products as the company prepares for future growth.

The development includes a new 94,000 sq ft warehouse designed to support the expansion of HARIBO's operations while enhancing distribution and supply capabilities.

Throughout construction, Caddick worked closely with local supply chain partners and HARIBO to ensure that the adjacent production facility remained fully operational. The project was completed without disrupting manufacturing activities, despite the challenges involved in working alongside a live production environment.

The completed facility adds to Caddick Construction’s growing portfolio of manufacturing projects across the region. Recent developments delivered by the company include YARA International’s flagship manufacturing facility at Ozone Business Park in Howden and Siemens Mobility’s Bogie Assembly and Service Centre in Goole.

Steve Ford, Regional Managing Director, Caddick Construction North East & Yorkshire, commented: "The expansion to HARIBO's Castleford facility was an exciting project to deliver due to the intricacies of carrying out work, which had to interface directly with the adjacent live production facility without interruption or down time. Together with our skilled local supply chain partners, our team worked hard to deliver the new warehouse to a world-class standard to support HARIBO’s high-calibre production.

"It has been a privilege for us, as a Yorkshire-based contractor, to contribute to a scheme that will significantly bolster local employment near our Wakefield head office. We’re proud of our role in developing this facility, which is set to leave a lasting impact on Yorkshire’s manufacturing sector and the wider community."
