Construction News Image

Cognisant Construction have been appointed as Principal Contractor for Phase 2 of Eddeva Park, a landmark development in South Cambridge that will deliver 80 new build homes, 40% of which will be affordable.

Located between Worts Causeway and Babraham Road, Eddeva Park forms part of a wider 230-home development on one of Cambridge's allocated growth sites. Phase 2 represents a significant chapter in the scheme's delivery and will comprise a mix of detached, semi-detached and terraced homes alongside apartments in a design that is carefully integrated with the semi-rural setting.

Cognisant will deliver the project for real estate developer This Land, working alongside Gen2Tek as Design Manager and Calford Seaden as Contract Administrator.

Rob Williams, Interim CEO of This Land, said: "The appointment of Cognisant Construction Limited as the principal contractor for Phase 2 at Eddeva Park is a milestone moment and the culmination of years of careful planning and consultation. Central to our partnership is a shared goal of generating opportunities that benefit the community beyond the community centre and the 40 per cent affordable housing the site offers, such as apprenticeships and employment for local people. As construction begins, we are looking forward to seeing our vision for a sustainable, high-quality community brought to life."

Commenting on the scheme, Luke Riley, Director at Cognisant Construction, said: "Eddeva Park is exactly the kind of project we set up Cognisant to deliver. It's a well-designed, well-located scheme with a clear vision, and a team around it who share the same commitment to quality and delivery. With 40% affordable housing, this development will make a real difference to people's lives in Cambridge."

The scheme incorporates a number of sustainability-led design principles, including air source heat pumps, green roofs and full compliance with updated Building Regulations covering ventilation, overheating, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. All 80 homes are designed to meet Nationally Described Space Standards (NDSS) and Cambridge City Council's own design requirements.

"We look forward to progressing the scheme and sharing updates as it develops," added Luke Riley.
