Residents across the North East are being invited to explore career openings within North Tyneside's expanding engineering, offshore, and green industries at a dedicated employment fair next month.

Named Jobs on the Tyne, the event will be held at Wallsend Library on 5 June. It aims to connect jobseekers with prominent businesses operating along the River Tyne, a region that is rapidly growing into a key hub for green technology, engineering, and offshore activity.

Karen Clark, Elected Mayor of North Tyneside, said: "I'm really excited about the opportunities green jobs are bringing to our borough. It's creating good jobs, stronger communities, and better lives for local families.

"The River Tyne is becoming a hub for offshore, engineering, and green technology and it is growing quickly.

"At the Jobs on the Tyne event people will have the opportunity to meet employers such as Shepherd Offshore, Smulders and others. They are offering a range of jobs, training opportunities and career pathways in one of the most dynamic and fast-developing sectors on the River Tyne.

"I would encourage anyone interested to attend and find out more about the opportunities available."

Those attending the event will have the chance to interface directly with corporate representatives, discover live vacancies, and investigate entry routes and training programs tailored to the sector.

A variety of businesses will be in attendance, including:

• Smulders – offshore wind and steel fabrication

• WD Close – welding, engineering and manufacturing specialists

• Shepherd Offshore – major employer on the Tyne

• Green Tec Recruitment – green energy and sustainability roles

• Kinewell – renewable technology

• Walker Subsea – subsea engineering and offshore services

The event is free and open to anyone looking for a career change, employment, or specialised training opportunities, with a particular focus on the expanding offshore and green sectors in the North East.
